ART OF PUBLIC RELATIONS


The art of public relations is unique. Thus the webster Internatinal Dictionary explains the meaning of Public Relation.
The activites of an industry, union, corporation, profession, government, other organizations or the like, in building and maintaining sound and productive relations with special publics as customers, employees and stock-holders and with the public at large, soas to adapt itself to the environment and interpret itself to society.
In development countries, the need of public relationing is recognized. A Public Relation man holds a prominent position in any organization or department, he is attached to. He is also responsible for having good relations with press. In commercial organization, it is the responsibility of a Public Relations man to properly present and project management's viewpoint if there is a conflict between the workers and the management.

Mass Communications Departments at some of the universities offer a limited coaching in public relations. A paper on public relations is included in the syllabus for a Degree in Mass Communications. The Press Institute of Pakistan Lahore and the Institute of Mass Communications Islamabad, also offer Diploma Courses in Mass Communities. Some knowledge of subjects like sociology, marketing, research, photography, anthropology and media management greatly facilitate the job of Public Relations man.

A person with right aptitude and maturity of thought and action will buld up his connections as he proceeds and once he establishes his credibility, approach, ways and professional competence, many doors will open.
